Ile de Ré, Island of my heart!

Today I’m taking you on one of my favorite French island, Ile de Ré. I went over there to spend a few days last weekend, and every time I go it reminds me of my childhood vacations. when I was little I spent several weeks on the island during the summer.

My father had a boat and what I liked most was taking a stroll with. And there is my dog over there! Look how is cute, isn’t he!

First, the Ile de Ré is an island which is located in the Atlantic Ocean facing the city of La Rochelle. It is connected to the mainland by a huge bridge that is over 3km. The island has an area of 85.32 km ², which is small, and it is easy to make a tour of the island by bicycle, plus all the roads are very flat, no hill to climb! YES!

There are several small villages and they are all cute, but there are some I like more than others! ;)

First, the first village you can go is Rivedoux, which is just at the entrance of the island, we have a magnificent view of ribs and the bridge is impressive as well!

My favorite part of the island is the village of Saint Martin, who is in some ways the capital of the island. It is a busy place during holidays and summer! It runs sometimes difficult, in the harbor of this village there are typical boats of the island but also larger vessels that are like 10 feet long! there is also in the villages, the famous donkeys in suits, the mascot of the island, you can pay for a ride! they are kind of panties to avoid mosquito bites in summer. But people who come to St. Martin are the bourgeois style, it’s really funny to see i swear, that's what surprised me a lot when I get back on the island!

The next place i think most people know it, and no matter your country, the game is world famous, I mean of course Fort Boyard, it is off the island and he's easy to approache by boat! it's a magical moment for you when you see it, and you realize that all events that we see on TV are made in, it's just awesome, I remember that when I was little and I saw it , i really wanted to get into it!

There is also the famous salt tide, which are beautiful to see, this is where people make salt with sea water, the scenery is beautiful and you can’t access it by car!

Ars en Ré is a beautiful village too, the church painted in black and white and really beautiful and it's worth going to see, and near this village there is the famous lighthouse on the island: the Lighthouse Whale, which is nice to visit when the weather is really good, because if it’s not you will be sick!

 

So you can find in this article, the few of my favorite landscapes of the Ile de Ré , which is a really beautiful island, and it is good to spend a holiday away from the city during the summer break!

The Beach House

Today I’m taking you to the village of AULT where my beach house is! This is a really beautiful place that you should visit!

My beach house, the best place to relax, think of something else. Just look at the sea and all your problems go away. I never actually said I love this house to my parents, it's true that I do not go often, but it’s one of my favorite places. I don’t really have any friends there .But I spent the best moments of my life!

First of all getting up in the morning and see this landscape, I don't think that  somebody could resist? This cliffs are really beautiful! Take your breakfast outside in the sun, spend the day lying on the beach, and even if the water is warm bathe! It actually only happiness, except that it is not a sandy beach but a pebble beach, it may be that bothers me.

Boating, marine animals and you can see seals, there are many in our region, That’s something wonderful, right?

But my best memories were last summer, I had invited a dozen of my friends, we spent a week ,may be the coolest that we never had! We really enjoyed thoroughly the beach, barbecue and sun! And the sun is rare in northern France.

 

I love to walk in the surrounding villages, and especially that of St Valerie sur Somme. It's a really beautiful place! there is a walk along the harbor where you can see the Bay of Somme is a magical place.

You can do a lot of sports there, kite surfing, windsurfing, canoeing or even aviation (my brother is about to learn to fly an airplane). So the bike rides are great too (even if I don’t like the bike!)

That is not an article about a country or city I visited, but over a region of France which is worth visiting as it is beautiful! Ault Rocks! :) Friends of Nature: This is the place to be!

First stop LONDON!

The first destination where i’m taking you is London, the city of the Queen, Big Ben, Picadilly Circus, Harrods, Notting Hill…

I went 5 times in London these past 7  years, and the first time I went to London I was 13, it was magical, this is a  city which is rich in history, and the Royal Palace was my favorite place.

I went the summer and the winter, and I can say that the landscape is completely different, and particularly this winter where we had so much snow!

When we said London, we immediately think to Big Ben who is the name of the big bell of the clock in the palace of Westminster. It’s the third tallest free standing clock tower in the world. May 2009, it was her 150th anniversary. When you’re in the front of this huge tower, you can imagine the old London, when Sherlock Holmes was created and made us dreamed with his fascinating investigations! It’s a strange feeling, right?

The second monument who impresses me the most is Tower Bridge, this big blue bridge over the river Thames. His length 286,50 meters, and when the sun is shining it’s really pleasant to make a walk .

This bridge is near the Tower of London, who is a great place with lot of museums and of course the most important, the jewelry of the Queen! Who never dream about those diamonds?!

The third amazing place is the Royal Palace, where you can see the Queen Castle! The Palace is a setting for states occasions and royal hospitality. The palace covers over 77,000 m² of floor space,

That’s mean it’s just huge! But the most impressive is the “changing of the guard”, I think there is a changing of the Guard everyday, and it’s really 

funny to see all those men who wear red costume with a black and hairy hat, and move together, with no expression in their faces! Even if you make the clown behind them, their faces won’t change!

Then after you can go to the famous Piccadilly street, where there are all the stores, when I’m going to London, I love to make shopping in the Abercrombie and Fitch store, but you must be patient, because you can have to wait 1 hour before you can be inside! This is CRAZY!

Moreover, there is the famous Westminster Abbey, which is one of the inescapable places in London, it’s where all the royal wedding had been pronounced! And it’s where the Prince William and Kate Middelton will be married! I hope you’re not gonna miss this wedding which is the 29 April 2011.

If I have an advice to give, I will tell you to go to the Madame Tussaud museum; this is a wax museum, where there are lot of celebrities which are in wax! I think is a good place to have fun, and make a break in your visits of this beautiful city! For example in this place I met Tom Cruise! (Maybe not the real one, but that was a big step in my life!) :p

To conclude this article, I wanna say that I have missed lot of beautiful places that I will show you later, and London it’s an amazing place, rich in history, and for those who love the royal family or Sherlock Holmes for example, this is the place TO BE! 

Hi everyone

I just create this blog, and my first goal is to share with you my trips and  my city wich is Paris! I will try to write as much as i can and it's not gonna be easy for me, because i have lot of things to do.

I'm gonna made some articles about the trips that i made.

When I will be in travel, i'll try to make some videos to show you what i see.

I create this blog for my family first because normaly i will leave Paris for New York next year, and i want  to learn how the blog works before i leave! I hope you gonna like the differents articles. Bye
